Farming Practices:
We specialize in "no-till", which preserves the precious topsoil We reduce weeds with natural mulches and build the soil composition with organic matter. We strive for a bio-dynamic gardening style wherever possible incorporating natural fertilizers such as manure, straw, fish emulsion and seaweed, green manures and herbs, compost, and compost tea, and our hard working but happy laying hens. Our chickens are rotated on pasture and renovated crop areas. We never spray any synthetic or harmful chemicals on our land including harsh organic sprays such as BT. We only consider using natural insect control such as Neem Oil or diatomaceous earth in severe cases (which are rare) and rather focus on soil fertility and healthy, happy crops that can withstand some naturally occurring insect competition.
