At Open Gate we raise a small flock of sheep, and smaller herd of goats, and a very large garden. Our animals live happy lives on pasture and are supplemented with hay and grain. Our garden is tended to with respect to the environment, fertilized by our animals, and cared for in a sustainable manner.
In addition to our CSA shares, our meat is available for sale by specific cuts or seasonally by halves and wholes.
To provide more variety we partner with Catie's dad, in Marshall, to offer beef, and our good friend Cade, in Marcellus, to offer pork. Both share the same ethics of animal husbandry.

June 15 - September 22. Members can pick up their shares at the farm by appointment on Sundays or Mondays, or Mondays in downtown Kalamazoo.
Each week members should expect about a 1/2 bushel of produce and one package of lamb, pork or beef ranging from 1 to 3 pounds, depending on the cut.Shares will contain 3-6 different kinds of vegetables, and occasionally fruit, depending on the season. In addition to the locally grown food, you?ll also receive recipe cards weekly.
Meat cuts will vary each week, 6 weeks of lamb, 5 weeks of pork and 5 of beef. All meat will be frozen at time of pick-up and will be USDA processed and packaged.
