Hmong American Farmers Association

The mission of the Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) is to advance the prosperity of Hmong farmers through cooperative endeavors, capacity building and advocacy. HAFA was started and is led by family farmers and uses community organizing to do its work. HAFA's work is grounded in strong communitarian values and based around a comprehensive model that acknowledges that all aspects of the agricultural and food system must be focused on, at the same time, to truly build intergenerational and community wealth. While some organizations offer trainings and others land access, HAFA helps Hmong farmers access all aspects of the agricultural and food system at once. Like a wheel with many spokes, all the spokes must be aligned and strong for the wheel to turn. The HAFA Farm is a 155-acre research and incubator farm where Hmong farming families can long-term lease sizable parcels for mixed vegetable and flower production. The Farm is located just 25 minutes outside of Saint Paul.
