On the farm side, the Douglas family grows approximately 3 acres of already picked strawberries. Plus, approximately 10 acres of seasonal mixed vegetables. They have a 50+ member CSA that has been in operation since 2009. They also team up with Amy's family farm, Morning Dew Farms, LLC to provide squash, zucchini, snap beans, blueberries, and pastured beef to their community and the southeast region.
In 2024, the Douglas' will be expanding the agritourism aspect of the farm, by bringing back fall school field trips, and adding family farm fun activities, hayrides to the pick-your-own pumpkin patch and a corn maze!
The country store/deli/ice cream parlor is open year round, with a couple of breaks for rest and resetting. Please call (828) 312-8137 for store hours, as they change seasonally. The deli has a large selection of build-your-own fresh sliced deli sandwiches and hot specialty sandwiches. The ice cream parlor serves hand-dipped Riverbend Creamery and Dairy Farm ice cream.
The country store showcases local, NC products throughout the year, including: dairy (milk, Amish rolled butter, cheese, goat cheese, and farm fresh eggs); frozen pastured beef, chicken, and pork; canned goods: jams, jellies, pickles, and sauces; dry goods: cornmeal mixes, flour mixes, etc; body care: goats soap & lotions, soy soaps, and body oils; herbs: dry seasoning mixes and herbal teas. Not to mention, the Farmers? Daughter of Alexander, LLC: strawberries (April through mid-June), greenhouse tomatoes (April and May), field tomatoes (June-October), cucumbers, squash, zucchini, sweet onions (May thru October), eggplant, okra, peppers, green beans (half runners and snap beans) ( July thru October), blueberries (July-August), lettuce, carrots, and beets (May-June), and cabbage, collard greens, and kale (May-June and October-January). Plus, if we don't grow something, we source it locally from approximately 10 Alexander County farmers/gardeners.
Our mission is to provide healthy, garden fresh produce to our community. You won't find a family that works harder to do just that! The majority of the produce sold in our country store is grown on our farm in Taylorsville, NC. We believe in being open and honest with our customers and building relationships that last; based on faith and trust. We are not an organic farm. We use a mixture of both sustainable and conventional practices to produce the healthiest and best tasting strawberries, blueberries, and mixed vegetables that we can!
