Community Gardens A community garden is a place divided into plots (usually 10x10ft) rented to individuals and families for their fruit, vegetable, flower or herb gardens. The plot rent rate usually includes the water and some irrigation for your space and sometimes will include access to compost. The cost of these spaces is nominal. Napa Community Garden plots are only $50/year. I would love to establish and/or maintain a community garden plot for/with you and your family. This is a GREAT option for apartment/condo dwellers or folks with small or shady yards. Chicken waste is helpful for home composting and gardening. FRESH eggs are the BEST eggs! One laying hen generally produces 2 dozen eggs each month most of the year, with slowing of production in the winter months. Napa City permits raising up to 6 hens per single-family dwelling.
