The SIU Student Sustainable Farm is a 6 acre farm with 2.5 acres in vegetables. The farm provides Southern Illinois University students with hand-on experience in running a small sustainable farm. Students learn how to grow for institutions (campus dining halls), grow for market (markets on and off campus), grow for CSA (35 member CSA June 1-Oct. 21st in 2016) and conduct pertinent research. We grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, focusing on conducting cultivar trials of heirloom and organic varieties. We hope to be organically certified by 2017. Class credit and volunteer credit is available for helping on the farm. Farm tours available Field days for cultivar trials in May and July will be announced Annual Harvest Festival in September
