We are a third generation family farm just outside of Mecer Pennsylvania. When my brothers and I were growing up on the farm dairy and crops was our mainstay. We milked 200 Holsteins and crop a 1000 acres. Today the farm is run with 2 of my brothers in addition to me. We still milk 100 cows and crop still around 1000 acres. Crops have consisted over the years of corn, soybeans, and sunflowers. We started growing vegetables in 2001 with only a half acre of sweet corn and about 100 tomato plants. We now grow around 35 acres of sweet corn, berries, tomatoes, peppers, cole crops, beans, beets, herbs, garlic, onions, pumpkins, summer and winter squash, eggplant, apples peaches, potatoes, cider, honey and flowers. Our growing practices are naturally grown as much as I can. We rotate, cover crop, IMP, plastic culture, raise beds and drip irrigation. Over the years through financial support from two food service companies we now also grow in high tunnels and greenhouses. We are a member of PASA (Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture) and other farm organizations. We also have a supply of pasture raised beef cattle (Holstien / Hereford cross).
