Sycamore Ridge farm is a small scale intensive vegetable and cut flower enterprise located approximately 11 miles north of Gettysburg. The current farmhouse and land is a remnant of one of the earliest settlements in the area. The soil is a rich organic clay-silt mix, and strewn with small rocks of numerous types, signaling that this was a glacier affected area. The variety of rocks likely enhance the presence of trace minerals on a continuous basis. Sycamore Ridge concentrates on variety, color and overall gourmet quality vegetables and small fruits. Harvesting at the petite stage is part of this offering. It is a part time operation with most work performed 'in-house'. Natural growing practices are employed as much as practical, with Certified Naturally Grown a transitional goal. The current marketing plan is versatile: subscription shares, roadside and other direct vending opportunities.
