Twisted Root Organic Farm

Twisted Root Organic Farm is a 6 acre, USDA Certified Organic farm in Paonia, Colorado. Our focus is to sustainably grow the most flavorful, high-quality vegetables, eggs, herbs, flowers and fruits possible for local markets. Our heritage breed chickens have daily access to free range pasture and are certified organic by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. We sell our products at the Crested Butte Farmers Market, through our direct-from-farm CSA program, as well as to local grocers and restaurants in the North Fork, Roaring Fork, and Gunnison Valleys. Our farm motto is 'Moving Food Forward'. Twisted Root was founded with an understanding that our food system must be reconfigured to emphasize 'beyond organic' practices in order to be truly sustaining. Our ecological objectives are to enrich the quality of the soil, conserve water and energy, and encourage biodiversity above and below ground. We maintain biological diversity by growing over 150 varieties of plants, by encouraging microbial activity in the soil, and by maintaining habitat for beneficial insects, birds and bats. We are further expanding our field to include up to two acres of commercial lavender production.
