This was a fun & educational day. Kelley & Mike are very knowledgeable & a lot of fun. Enjoyed a wonderful farm to table lunch that included mushrooms. What a great little farm, made so much better because they are truly organic in every way. I will definitely continue supporting this hidden gem in Ellijay.

I had the pleasure of visiting Earth Friendly Farm on March 3, 2018 for their mushroom class. I started my mushroom meadow in 2017 - however, it was a big failure! The wild fungus took over my logs. What did I do wrong -
Well, Kelley and Mike put me on the right path! I learned how to correct all my mistakes, properly prepare logs and received hands-on experience and great resource list and catalog to take home.
Kelly is a real MD - Mountain Doc. She has extensive knowledge of all things organic and natural methods of living well.
Mike has mastered his skills by doing. The farm has multiple projects finished and ongoing to view and learn and do!
The farm has so much more to offer! On our tour, we saw vermicomposting, greenhouses, raised beds, hugelculture, healthy natural poultry practices, aquaculture, alternative housing with cargo containers... and more.
Take a day, take a class, just take the time to visit this wonderful learning center outside Ellijay! Mark, Danielsville,GA

This was not my first time to the Farm and won't be my last. Kelley and Mike are a dynamic duo maintaining a corner of homestead heaven in the hills of North Georgia. Every visit with them is fun and entertaining, as well as educational, and their Shiitake Mushroom Class was no exception. By the time I took home my inoculated log, I felt confident that I could continue to grow mushrooms on my own--the legacy of true teachers. Any experience with these genuine, caring, generous, and funny folk will leave you enriched. I was fortunate to be able to attend their final class of Spring 2016, and I encourage anyone thinking about growing their own mushrooms to get on the list for their next season.

Thank you Kelley and Michael for teaching us to grow our own mushrooms!
Both hosts were passionate and knowledgeable about growing shiitake mushrooms and they were very patient with all our questions. The class was small and personal and we enjoyed meeting like minded folks. The farm tour was lovely - their chickens are for life = living great and producing beautiful eggs. We were served a wonderful lunch of freshly made quiche, salad from their garden and a delicious kumquat dessert with honey from their farm - a feast! We learned the importance of when to harvest a log for inoculation, keeping the logs wet and that the type of spawn is important to our success. We highly recommend this class and our September 2016 1st flush of shiitake!

The mushroom class I took was very informative and our hosts, Kelley and Michael were so friendly. I felt like I had 2 new, really cool friends. I would recommend this class or any other they offer to anyone wanting to spend a day at a beautiful farm with hosts who are very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing their way of life. I hope that Saturday was the first of many days I will spend there!

The bottom line: I attended the Shiitake Inoculation class 16 Jan 2017 instructed by Kelley and Mike. The class was very informative and provided all the instruction necessary for me to do this on my own. Additionally, they included information on what and where to purchase the tools and supplies used in the class. Kelley and Mike are very knowledgeable and generously shared their knowledge with the class.
The best parts:
Friendly gracious hosts to their farm and happy to give you the working tour. The lunch was delicious and plentiful! You'll learn about the shiitake mushrooms and so much more in this informal, hands-on class. I highly recommend it!

Earth Friendly Farm is such a beautiful place to visit and has the BEST eggs, shiitake mushrooms, and honey. I recently took a shiitake mushroom class there and not only learned tons, but had lots of fun doing it. (Plus, a fabulous lunch!) Mike and Kelley instructed and demonstrated, then we each got to inoculate our very own log and bring it home with us. I can't wait to reap my first harvest! They take such great care to do everything naturally and organically, so I always feel good about anything I buy from the farm. I especially love the way the chickens are cared for. Each one has a name and a unique personality. They all receive quality medical care and are free to roam about the farm all day. They're kept inside, safe from predators at night and I must say their nighttime accommodations are quite luxurious and spacious. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I have tried several times to put in five stars but each time when I hit preview the site only shows three.

I feel fortunate to say I have been to a shiitake mushroom inoculation class and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Mike and Kelley are a wealth of information, you can trust that you will only receive the most wholesome and organic produce from their farm.
The honey is from handcrafted hives built with wisdom and love and is very helpful for allergy sufferers.
I buy eggs weekly from the spoiled princess chickens and feel they are beyond comparison to the eggs available in super markets. This is a dependably organic and sustainable farm run by honest, hardworking people. You are in for a fabulous treat when you go visit and see for yourself!

I have known Mike and Kelley for several years, and I am clearly biased. They are wonderful people that truly care about the quality of the food they grow and share. I have seen the efforts they put into growing food the "right" way (without the damaging chemicals). They have the best mushrooms and eggs! There is even a chicken named after me and she lays the most beautiful green eggs (they are my personal favorite). I know how wonderfully these chickens are cared for, as is the beautiful land. I definitely recommend Earth Friendly Farms!

Earth Friendly Farm does things right. Every where you turn they are practicing back to Nature farming. I enjoyed their beekeeping class and have eaten their veggies and shared mine with them. Honest and dependable people doing good work for our planet.

Mike & Kelly are sweet people which is reflected in the way they care for their chickens and the end result is happy chickens and yummy eggs. The honey from the bee hives is tasty as well.

This farm has the best mushrooms anywhere and eggs. They are so careful about what goes on their produce and in their chickens. The chickens are their "babies" and are treated like queens. Out in the day to forage and in at night for protection. When I get something from them, I know I can trust what I am getting.
