The Sitka Farmers Market is a public market established to provide the community of Sitka access to locally grown and harvested foods. Additional goals of the market are to provide a venue for education, entertainment, and building personal relationships for a healthier community. The first three Sitka Farmers Markets were held in August of 2008. The 2014 season starts on July 4th and five more markets follow every other Saturday, ending on September 12th. Many local gardens have been started or expanded to provide the markets with fresh produce. Locally harvested seafood, locally made art/crafts and other products, live music, and prepared foods are also a big part of the Markets.
