Urban farmer seeds began in 2008 with just 10 varieties of vegetable seeds. An avid gardener and magazine reader, noah (the owner) needed something to do with a closet full of magazines. After a few hours of cutting, he realized his magazines could be used to store his vegetable seeds. After a couple months and a large surplus of seeds, noah began offering his recycled seed packets and vegetable seeds online. The combination of eco-friendly seed packets and high quality seeds quickly took off! as demand increased, urban farmer seeds expanded the business beyond his backyard, and began to contract with other regional farms to grow seed, in addition to continuing to produce seed himself from the urban farmer garden in indianapolis, indiana. as we've grown, we have continually worked to produce, develop and sell only the highest quality organic and heirloom seeds on the market. We choose varieties known for their exceptional characteristics and grow well in normal gardening conditions. We have expanded the selection and availability of our seeds, we've reached out to other farmers, locally and across the country, to produce seed for us, and we've established partnerships with other seed companies that have made commitments to develop and produce high quality seed. We now carry over 1,500 seeds and opened a storefront location in westfield, indiana where customers can visit, shop, and pick up their orders. Organic, sustainable agriculture produces healthy soils, naturally rich and balanced in the nutrients plants need. That's why we offer a line of organically grown seeds from a network of certified organic family farms. to be certified organic, one must prove and warrant the absence of any transgenic (i.e., the introduction of a gene or trait from one species into another unrelated species) germplasm in the source material and breeding program, as well the absence of any gmo material in the seed production, cleaning, storage, and shipment chain. we do not and never will sell gmo seeds.
