My husband has always dreamed of being a farmer and living off the land. When we moved out to the country we realized he could do what he loves and make a living at it too. I have always been the "outdoorsy" type so I love helping him. Our kids like to be outside and see how things grow. We have been growing on our small acreage and rented ground for several years now. We purchased 15 acres that we were renting in 2010 and glad that we OWN that field. We also purchased a high tunnel in 2010 which has helped us expand our season. We sell produce at the Boone Farmers Market and at a stand downtown at 1024 8th street. We love to meet people and show them how good fresh home-grown produce can be. We started our first CSA in 2008 and it really went well despite all the bad weather we had in Iowa. Our members can be sure that they are going to get priority when there is a limited supply (like when the tomatoes and sweet corn first come on!) We are not certified organic but try to be naturally grown and will gladly explain to our customers what process has been used to grow the produce they are buying. We are always looking for new ideas to introduce more sustainable practices. We had fun raising our kids "on the farm".
