We have been growing vegetables, herbs and small fruits using sustainable agricultural methods on this farm since 2003. L is a 5th gen. WV farmer and retired school bus driver, and M is at least 5th gen. gardener and retired teacher. We use compost, manure, minerals and organic fertilizers. We use only organic approved insect controls. We sold at the Clarksburg Farmers Market from 2009-2016. We now sell at the Lost Creek Farmers Market and directly from the farm. We are both Master Gardeners. We utilize a high tunnel for season extension of some crops, have two outdoor plots, plus numerous raised beds and small plots around the house and buildings.
We grow a wide variety of vegetables: lettuces, spinach, beets, turnips, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cruciferous plants [cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts], cucurbits [cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins, etc.], corn, eggplant, Swiss chard, kale, green beans, and over 25 different herbs. We keep a flock of 42 laying hens [brown eggs], and have a large raspberry patch. We also forage for wild berries, herbs, and black walnuts. We make value added products: jams & jellies, dried herbs, herb blends for the kitchen, herbal teas, herbal vinegars, Italian style Dipping Oil, salves and oils, essential oil blend roll-ons, lip balms (including one that helps ward off cold sores), herbal vapo-rub, marshmallow root, our much acclaimed Poison Ivy Spray, and Hot Spot Ointment for Pets, Flea-Tick-Mosquito repellent, dried catnip and more.
We welcome farm apprenticeships and hire part-time seasonal workers from the local community. M's goal is educating others about foods, herbs, and growing their own.
We sell Wassail mix for the winter holiday season. We sell a wide variety of jams and jellies from our fruits, friends & neighbors fruits and purchased organic sources (usually local).
