Established in 2011, Cold Spring Farm is a new addition to the lovely, historically agricultural landscape of East Haddam, Connecticut. The original late 1800's farm site was known as the Dutton Farm, and in the 1900's it became known as the Rose Farm. Most recently, it served as the home of the Rose Farm Gallery, owned by Charlie and Debbie Farrow of East Haddam.
This small-scale organic farm came to fruition through a quick word-of-mouth connection and a handshake-deal between landowner and farmer. Started by an East Haddam native named Jessica Stone, Cold Spring Farm has grown to offer a wide variety of organic vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruits. We have also begun to expand our growing space to other privately-owned properties in East Haddam and Moodus. With her 18 month-old son, Mason, in tow, Jess will begin sharing the fruits and (vegetables!) of her labor with the local community beginning in 2012.
You will soon be able to find an abundant variety of our mouth-watering produce and fruits, as well as gorgeous herbs and flowers, at a number of locations throughout East Haddam and surrounding towns.
We are now accepting inquiries for Spring 2013 Internships.
Lots going on here. The view is spectacular and the farm is well maintained. The farm stand is well stocked, but much of it is from other growers and producers.... [more]
Does not measure up to 1/2 shares I have had in the past. If they want to promise shares for all they should only start in a season where they actually have enough food to make it worth it.... [more]
This farm gives the illusion of being a working farm. Unfortunately, they buy food wholesale and resell it as their own. They'll tell people it comes from "cold storage" but never admit to not growing it themselves.... [more]
Look for our locally grown and locally known "Mason's Pickles" this summer at the East Haddam Farmers' Market and taste-test this year's newest Lavender Pickles and Mexican Sour Pickles. Other flavors will be available for purchase at the market.
