School Of Our Lady, Queen Of Peace & Reconciliation

Family Farm
Farm has been in operation since 1998, began at Farmer's Market in 2001. Started, but did not complete organic certification. In the early years, we were fortunate to have received mentoring by Joel Salatin, particularly in butchering chickens. In 2013, a hybrid school was begun and expanded to be a Montessori-based farm school. . Occupations precede and are linked to academic studies. Several Acres USA books are used. The farm consists of pastured large animals - Holstein and Park beef, registered miniature donkey, registered horses, American heritage breed hogs, American heritage breed chickens. Natural animal care humane practices are used with our animals including homeopathy. Blueberries grow in a permaculture environment; blackberries, elderberries, 45 fruit trees grow elsewhere and we have some interesting methods to control disease and poor quality fruit! Open pollinated seed is used exclusively. Our niche is paleo diet foods to stabilize blood sugar. Owner and founder is a dietitian, educator and monk of sorts. Her training is in functional nutrition, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Montessori Math. Mary Ann has attended several farming conferences and was raised in the garden since she was knee high to a grasshopper.
