Staten Island CSA

Staten Island Community Supported Agriculture (SICSA) is a group of Staten Islanders who buy shares in a farmer's vegetable and fruit and egg crop for the growing season. We support Circle Brook Farm located in Andover, New Jersey and the farmer, John Krueger, and share the risks and benefits of food production with them.
The 2020 SICSA season begins in early June and lasts 24 weeks. The distribution point is Christ Church on the corner of Franklin Ave. and Fillmore St., one block south of Richmond Terrace, on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The pickup point is in the parking lot at the rear of the church on Fillmore.
Farmer John is offering two types of shares this year: A Premium share, which is essentially the same as the share offered during previous years, and a Basic share, which will be approximately three-quarters of the size of the full share.
The Premium share is $720 and the Basic share is $600.
Each week we receive 7 to 13 different types of organic vegetables of varying amounts. In past years we have received over 40 different types of vegetables. This season we also have local sustainably grown fruit shares and egg shares.
The SICSA requires members to volunteer five and a half hours of their time during the season. Most members spend 2 to 2 1/2 to 3 hour shifts helping to unload the truck, set up the distribution table, weigh vegetables and clean up.
