The 20 year development of Poplar Ridge Farm as an organic Community Supported Agriculture farm is a unique extension of the owners personal adult lifestyles and career studies. The owners have been athletes involved in the organic food movement and advanced nutrition concepts since their teenage years! One of the owners, Marianne Battistone, is currently a health and fitness contributing editor to SELF Magazine. She has been a contributor to Conde Nast publications since 1980. Marianne has been in private practice in NYC and a lecturer, since 1978 to present. She is a dance educator and therapist that specializes in injury prevention, treatment and care of dance and athletic injuries. She and her husband, Philip Norwood,a tri-athlete, always wanted to own a farm and learn to farm the land sustainably. In 1994, when Philip began working in Charlotte, NC, they chose to build their farm in Sandy Ridge Township, Union County, NC, just 24 miles south of Charlotte.

We are a small family-owned and operated, USDA Certified Organic farm. Our selling season is approximately 34 weeks, broken down into two seasons, a 22 week summer season and a 10 week fall/winter season. We specialize in unique varieties of produce, herbs, and flowers. Flowers can be purchased by the stem or as arranged bouquets. We also offer recipes, tours, and special events such as farm to table dinners featuring fresh from the farm produce, local chefs, and guest speakers.

We offer full-share and half-share memberships for both types. Our full-share members receive produce weekly for the duration of the season. Half-share receives produce every other week for the duration of the season.

Members and non-members can also purchase any of our surplus. Large orders are taken by email. There is no pre-ordering for smaller orders. All members and non-members pick up produce at our farm during our Market Stand hours. Wednesdays 1-6pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm.

Poplar Ridge Farm always exceeds my expectations! Members receive much more than their box value in each share they receive. Veggies are fresh and delicious and the eggs are amazing! Definitely a place to visit for a farm tour or a yummy farm to table dinner.... [more]
