Growing Places Indy (GPI) is an urban farming initiative located in downtown Indianapolis. GPI is committed to building a more just and equitable food system in Indianapolis through urban farming, food access, mind-body education, and entrepreneurship. The Indy Winter Farmers Market (IWFM) is a GPI initiative and was created to provide an urban venue to directly connect farmers and producers to the community and foster personal relationships in the exchange of fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, baked goods, herbs, and natural products. The market features 75 unique vendors, promoting access to local, healthy food for all, and runs from November through April. During the summer, GPI runs a farm stands out of Indianapolis, which provide locally grown produce and local goods. GPI also offers a summer CSA program, where patrons receive a weekly produce share of sustainably-grown vegetables and herbs.
