Used by American Indians, African Americans and early European settlers, wild Persimmons are a distinctively American fruit. Although currently the greatest abundance of trees are found along the Mississippi River Valley, the native Persimmon's range extends from Connecticut to Florida, and as far west as Kansas and Texas. The fruits are a burnt orange color and often develop a bluish haze after the first frost. Wild Persimmons have a unique, succulent flesh that can be used for both savory and sweet dishes, including breads, pies, ice cream, candies and sauces.
Dunwoody Spruill Green Market is a 5th year Producer only Market that is open May - November . Our hours are Wednesdays from 8am-12:00 Noon. A Producer Only Market means that only vendors who make or grow what they sell can participate. Most of our produce vendors grow with Organic Methods and are Certified Naturally Grown.

Athens Locally Grown is a small group of growers located around Athens, Georgia. Each grower farms his/her land using strict standards to ensure that everything produced is chemical-free. All member farms are dedicated to supplying their customers with the freshest and highest quality vegetables, herbs, mill products, eggs, fruits, flowers, and transplants.

Billet-Doux Farm (say "biily-doo"...French for 'love letter') is located in the beautiful Yadkin River Valley of northwestern North Carolina. We grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers to sell at our farm stand, which is part of the Shacktown Farmers' Market (a large group of growers and artisans which we will host here on weekends, beginning in May).

Bluebird Hill Farm specializes in herbs and produce grown without chemicals or pesticides. We sell directly to individuals, restaurants and coop markets. We grow a number of unusual herbs and fruits not often seen in this area. We have a beautiful field of 500 "Grosso" Lavender plants which we will be harvesting the weekends of June 7 and 14 in 2008. We welcome guests and harvesters. Everyone who helps out will receive a bouquet of lavender to take home.
