The Velarde family began farming in this beautiful valley finding it perfect for growing chiles, peppers, spices, and a variety of fruits including apples, pears, cherries, plums, apricots and more. Rancho de Santa Fe, The Fruit Basket, and Velarde Orchards' products contains no addtiives, preservatives, or fillers. It is easy to understand why over 75% of the products entered into competition each year wins Blue Ribbons. Excellence is truly a Velarde family tradition, and their gift to you. Each year Rancho de Santa Fe, The Fruit Basket and Velarde Orchards sells its prize winning fruits at the local farmer's markets and on its road side fruit stand in Velarde, NM. In addition, the Velarde Farms have local farm tours set up with the local farmer's market. Rancho de Santa Fe, The Fruit Basket and Velarde Orchards received its Good Agricultural Practices and Good Handling Practices certification in October 2007. Eddie is one of the first Hispanic/Latino Farmers to get certified. These certificates enable the farm to sell to Federal Programs, especially in the Public School systems locally and nationally.
