Thanks for your interest in our history. We started farming in 1991. Although we are conventional farmers, we use very little chemicals.
OUR GROWING METHODS:
We are minimalists, meaning that we like to use the least amount of chemicals to grow our crops. We do use fertilizer to yield a large enough quantity of produce. If there is a problem with pests, we use the bare minimum amount of USDA approved chemicals necessary to allow us to harvest our crops. We utilize organic methods as often as possible. We eat our food EVERYDAY. We want it safe for our family, as well as yours!

Craig began farming as a small child with his Father and siblings. His parents owned a large produce farm in King George County. As a child and young adult, he learned all the basics of growing vegetables.
We have tried some new techniques of farming. One that has worked very well is growing crops on plastic mulch. This is long strips of plastic that a machine lays in the field over rows of soil. We poke holes in the plastic, and place the plant in it. Irrigation is under the plastic, so little water is lost to evaporation. Also, the need for herbicides is greatly reduced, because there are few weeds in the hole where the plant is. Different colors of plastic mulch also deter bugs. So, this helps us reduce the amout of pesticide needed. It's a great way to grow most any crop.

We started all of this on a small farm of about 30 acres in Stafford County and one small farm market. A great customer base and a good variety of produce have helped us grow tremendously. We now grow over 350 acres of crops, offer a CSA membership, and have many markets throughout the area each week.
