LBCAP's Spring Street Farm Project

Family Farm
Long Beach Community Action Partnership started the Spring Street Farm Project in 2009 as a part of the Youth Opportunity Center's Green Jobs program. We operate seasonal crops in our row farming, and a small orchard filled with pastured chickens, ducks and a goose. Spring Street Farm has a teaching garden with vertical plantings and an aquaponic system where we grow plant starts for sale and for planting. We use only organic starts and seeds and farm using organic and sustainable practices only. No chemical pesticides or fertilizers are used. The farm is on a corner across the street from Memorial Hospital and centrally located in the city of Long Beach close to buses and trains. Our farm stand is open all day Tuesdays and Fridays, year round and accepts WIC coupons. Our location is on Spring Street at the corner of Elm Avenue. Individuals and families, school children and boy scouts are among our volunteer work force. We also continue to participate with the Youth Opportunity Center and a work site for teens looking for their first employment situation.
