CSA's are different from community to community, but at the core they consist of families and individuals of a community who are committed to support their local farmers for a season. By doing so, those families and individuals get a share of vegetables that is determined by what is currently ready to harvest. This results in fresher tastier food reaching the tables of the people participating in the CSA.
By joining Helena Local you are supporting Montana farmers and providing them with a local market. You are also helping to support our regional economy by ensuring at least a portion of our dollars stay within Montana. Another great benefit is that as a CSA member you know where your food comes from. At Helena Local we are committed to providing you information on who our producers are and where in Montana those foods come from.
Since we provide foods based on local growing schedules you also get great variety through the season. By participating in Helena Local you are also participating in energy conservation. A piece of produce at your grocery store travels and average of 1500 miles. Our produce and other products are grown on farms that are only a few hours away, from the Bitterroot Valley, Glacier, Missoula to Helena.
