Spirit of Walloon Market Garden

Spirit of Walloon Market Garden is an ecologically managed 1.5-acre vegetable farm in Boyne City, Michigan. We grow hundreds of varieties of over 60 unique vegetables and a � acre of perennial fruits, which provides for 3 markets, a CSA, and local restaurants. We also produce cut flowers for market and for events. Our focus is on crafting an ecologically and biologically based production system that prioritizes soil health and plant and insect biodiversity. We recognize that it�s the responsibility of farmers to be good stewards of the land, and to shape a system that fits well into the existing landscape. We remain ever-conscious that the crops themselves are only one part of a more complex agroecosytem that requires nurturing. To meet our ecological production goals, we utilize cover crops, rock minerals, compost, crop rotations, minimal tillage, crop diversity, and habit for beneficials. We are not USDA certified organic, but we buy certified organic seed whenever possible and use only OMRI-listed amendments and pesticides.
