Tantre Farm started its very first crops of potatoes, winter squash, and garlic in 1993 on a 40-acre parcel. Since then their farm has grown to about 115 acres of sandy loam fields, wetlands, and woods, where they grow about 80 to 100 varieties of vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, herbs, and cut flowers. The owners of Tantre Farm are Richard Andres and Deb Lentz. They also have egg-laying chickens, ducks, pigs, a few cats, a couple dogs, and a small herd of dairy and beef cattle.

For the past 20 years they have operated a successful Summer CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program with over 300 members. They also have expanded to include several other seasonal CSA programs, along with a weekly collaborative CSA program called the Immune Booster CSA. They have an internship program, which attracts people of all ages from all over the United States to learn, live, and work on their farm. They are looking for self-motivated interns with a positive attitude and good work ethic, who would like to work and live in community on a bio-intensive, small-scale, family farm, so they encourage all who are are hard-working and want to learning intentionally to apply. More specific details are on their website, including registrations and applications.

Many organizations, such as schools, summer camps, or university volunteer groups contact them for Edible Farm Tours, Educational Field Trips, or Volunteer Opportunities during the spring, summer, and fall. Please schedule this a month in advance. They also grow over 20 or 30 varieties of a diverse collection of colorful flowers. They offer u-pick flower opportunities and consultation for those interested in arranging their own "country bouquets" for weddings, birthdays, or parties.

Tantre Farm has grown produce for many wholesale accounts for the past 25 years, which include local retail stores, food artisan businesses, and several restaurant accounts. They also sell their produce to local schools, hospitals, buying clubs, and at the Ann Arbor and Chelsea Farmers Markets. Please contact Deb or Richard for more details.
