What began as a small community garden on the east side of Flint, MI, PeaceMob Gardens is now flourishing into a full scale eco-village intentional community with an organic Urban Farm. We are a band of artists, musicians, activists, poets, crafters, environmentalists, gardeners, teachers, and more, dedicated to making positive change in our community and society.
We believe that we can help lead by example and inspire hope in citizens to change our culture, economy, behaviors, habits and selves into a world of a sustainable nature. We feel that as residents of earth we are born with a responsibility to protect the earth for future generations, and that to fulfill this responsibility there is much change that needs to take place. To reach a symbiotic state with the ecosystem, we understand that our worlds food systems must change into a small local based system focused on stewardship of the land and natural and organic practices. It is our goal to help experiment with and develop more efficient sustainable farming practices that produce natural organic foods with high nutritional content and yields that appeal to the consumer from the facets of appearance, taste, availability, consistency, and price.
As we develop our farming practices we are also redeveloping the neighborhood around us. A once vacant wasteland of abandon and broken homes, our neighborhood has suffered high levels of blight, neglect, and crime for 40 years. We hope that through the recreation of this land from a post industrial nightmare, into a beautiful garden and art based community, that we can create true, lasting, positive change in our environment.
