Homestead Organics Farm and Cultivating Connections Montana

Family Farm
Our certified organic small family farm is all about local community!  We are the Farm-Classroom for Cultivating Connections Montana, a nonprofit educational organization focused on engaging youth in farming and on 'Building Community Through Food'. The farm hosts farm tours and parties aimed at bringing people together to learn about their food and those who grow it.  We work to be a model of regenerative farming practices while bringing our community together using food as the common denominator.  Homestead Organics Farm is certified organic by the Montana Department of Agriculture.  We are Real Organic Project certified.

Cultivating Connections Montana (CCMT) hires local youth for the 'Youth Farm Internship' program, as well as adult mentors to help train the next generation of farmers!   CCMT also hosts monthly knowledge-sharing, skill building, and community development workshops under the banner "Building A Stronger Bitterroot".  CCMT collaborates with HEARTism to offer 'Special Abilities Camp' for kids on the autism spectrum. In the summer, CCMT interns produce ready-to-eat 'Salads for Seniors', which are donated to Ravalli County Council on Aging for distribution to their Meals on Wheels Program.  We also offer a selection of CSA shares, including the buy-one-give-one vegetable CSA share!

Homestead Organics Farm hosts volunteer interns to live and work as part of our 'Farmily'.  We welcome volunteers who are interested in becoming a part of our small farm community.  Volunteers must be willing to make a minimum 3 week commitment to live and work on the farm.  Learning opportunities include planting, monitoring, weeding, and harvesting of vegetable crops, animal chores, cooking and other food processing, and meeting the community for events.  One weekday lunch meal is shared by all.  Bulk organic Montana-grown grains and lentils as well as our own produce are provided for volunteers.  Housing includes camper trailers, 18' tipi, canvas tents, or shared bedrooms.  There is a shared kitchen, hang-out spaces, bathroom, and laundry.  Our set schedule allows for plenty of time to enjoy the abundant area recreational opportunities.  We have a fleet of bikes for you to use.  Families are welcome as the farm is often full of kids!
