Nestled among shade trees and historic structures dating from 1850-1930, the Saturday market has the feel of an old-time market (the original McKinney Market known as the "Jockey Lot" opened in the late 1800's and was just down the street from the current market). On any given Saturday as many as 75 vendors are present offering meats and eggs along with locally produced naturally grown vegetables and herbs, specialty foods, artisanal goods and crafts. All vendors are required to produce a minimum of 60% of what they sell over the course of the year. Many vendors produce 100% and are notated with signage. All products must comefrom Texas.
Entertainment and special programs are offered frequently on the porch of the Faires House, the oldest standing residential structure in McKinney, TX. Dixie's Store, a 1908 grocery store, features Doc & Clyde's Ice Cream Freezer collection, is open during the market and is the starting point of the Village Tour, Saturdays at 11:00am.
