Hello folks! Thank You for looking for local Okanogan food. Joining a CSA is a seasonal experience. The 2013 season's bounty will be diverse, from heirloom favorites to gourmet specialties to tried and true classics. 8th Street Greens has a CSA program offering farm fresh food from our own farm, Yonder Farm (certified organic for 33 years) and several others. I have never certified 8th Street Greens as organic but I follow the program. I use organic amendments and fertilizers and utilize cover cropping. I do not use any conventional pest/herb/or fungicides. We rototill as little as possible. I invite beneficial insects with nectar-laden flowers. Our CSA also has several options this year. Organic, heritage breed eggs from Raintree Farm; Artisan bread from The Okanogan Bakery; farmstead cheeses rotating weekly between Larkhaven Farm and Sunny Pine Farm; and an extra fruit option from local organic orchards and farms. 8th Street Greens is known for its blends of greens for salad and stir-fry and nutritious seasonal spinach. We also grow lots of plump, juicy, sweet strawberries. We grow herbs and garlic as well. In 2012 we returned to growing a large diversity of other row crops like peppers, tomatoes, green beans, sugar snap peas, cabbage and more! We're doin' it again for 2013! Yonder Farm (formerly Filaree Farm) is known for their sweet, crispy carrots, plump onions, rich beets and a diversity of other row crops. Okanogan Producers Marketing Association, including Filaree Fruit, is our source for fresh certified organic sun ripened fruit. Our CSA runs May-October for 23 weeks. It includes both vegetables and fruit. Bulk orders are available, for preserving or quantity eating (like a box of cherries!). We have a Basic ($483.)or Large ($713.) share option and a payment plan available. Delivery or farm pick-up is on Thursdays. This is our 7th year providing a Community Supported Agriculture program to the folks of Okanogan County. Good Food Is Good Medecine! We enjoy facilitating this collaboration of local food businesses and growers and we like being a personal farm connection for our community. We look forward to sharing the bounty with 8th Street Greens' shareholders once again!
