Grateful Plains is our 6-acre family farm located just 15 miles southeast of Starved Rock State Park near Utica, IL . We are committed to growing non-GMO veggies, small fruits, herbs and edible flowers using regenerative farming practices and teaching beginning farmers to do the same. Heirloom varieties are just as exciting to us as organic hybrids and you'll be sure to experience a taste of something you've likely not seen growing in Illinois when you visit our farm.
In addition to farming, we are active in the local farming community to create a reliable network of sourcing food locally and preserving food safety in the Midwest by collaboratively growing with over 100 local farm families distributing food through Down at the Farms food hub out of Fairbury IL. If you need something, reach out to Ridge Fridge Food Cooperative (GRAND RIDGE) and they can set you up!
We focus on intensive sub-acre growing, production farming incorporating biodynamics, no-till, permaculture, vermaculture and companion planting methods. Internships and research participation are available year round.
