The Bloomfield-Montclair CSA is a group of over 200 members who support the sustainable farming activities of local farmers. The weekly vegetable shares are provided in partnership with John Krueger, of Circle Brook Farm. Circle Brook grows organic vegetables for our CSA and for a few area markets. The season runs June-November with pick-ups at one of our three pick up sites in Montclair and Cedar Grove on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 6:30. Members help out at the distribution a couple of times per season and have opportunities to visit the farm.

Members have the option of choosing between three vegetable share sizes.

FULL "PREMIUM" SHARE - $1,145 per season ($46.88/week + one time $20 site fee included)
This share will contain, on average, 10-12 items, and the quantity is bountiful. The share will include various less common vegetables, such as escarole, radicchio, fennel, and frissee, not found in the medium share.

Sample week's vegetable share:

June: broccoli or cauliflower (or perhaps Napa cabbage), summer squash, bok choy, radishes, snow peas, choice or kale or collards, choice of escarole or frisee, spinach, two types of lettuce, garlic scapes, choice of two herbs

October: acorn squash, cauliflower, orange sweet potatoes, salad turnips, parsnips, baby bok choi, peppers, sunchokes, scallions, Swiss chard, kale, choice of arugula, tatsoi, or broccoli raab, choice of thyme or cilantro

SPLIT SHARE
$582.50 per season (includes one-time $20 site fee per split share)
Split shares are simply premium shares, divided between two households. Most split share partners alternate pick up weeks, so each household receives 12 of the 24 deliveries. However, a few split share members choose to divide each delivery into two portions as equally as possible. How members divide up the split shares is up to the households to decide and schedule.

PREBAGGED "MEDIUM" SHARE
$760 per season ($30.84/ week + one-time $20 site fee included)
The prebagged "Medium" Share will contain approximately 50%-60% of the produce in the Premium Share, and on average 9-10 items each week rather than 10-12. The Prebagged Medium Share cannot be a split share and must arrive prebagged. Share price includes the labor and material costs of bagging.

In addition to the vegetable share, the Bloomfield-Montclair CSA also coordinates OPTIONAL EGG, MUSHROOM AND FLOWER SHARES provided by Circle Brook Farm.

EGG SHARE: 24 weekly deliveries, custom sizes and prices
The birds are free range and are on pasture for 8 months of the year. They are not certified organic and there is soy in their feed.
1 dozen/week =$150,
2 dozen/week = $275
3 dozen/week = $395,
4 dozen/week = $505
+$110 for each additional dozen over 4 dozen

MUSHROOM SHARE: 1/2 lb box weekly, 24 weeks @ $240
Joe Aochoa is the owner/operator of Innoculated LLC. His operation produces certified organic Exotic mushrooms in Fairfield NJ. Circle Brook Farm is pleased to partner with Joe, to provide members with a weekly mushroom share. Each week you will receive a ½ lb. box with an assortment of different culinary mushrooms. Varieties will include Blue, Green, or Yellow Oysters, Lion's mane, Black Trumpets, and Shitakes.

FLOWER SHARE: 10 weeks @ $100
Circle Brook Farm also grows a large assortment of ornamental flowers. These are sold at our farmers' markets for $12-15/bouquet. We offer a flower share during a 3-month period, beginning in July and ending in October. The 10 flower shares will be delivered as availability allows- there will be some consecutive weeks and some pauses. Varieties will include: Snapdragons, Lisianthus, Sunflowers, and mixed bouquets featuring Zinnias, Cosmos, Celosias and other beautiful blooms. Brighten up your Day!

In addition to the optional shares above, Bloomfield-Montclair CSA also coordinates AN OPTIONAL FRUIT SHARE in partnership with Tree-licious Orchards.

FRUIT SHARE: Members who sign up for the fruit share receive 1-2 varieties of fruit each week, starting with Bing cherries, and progressing through the season from sugar and shiro plums, to peaches, nectarines, and finally pears and apples in the fall. While the fruit is not organic (growing organic fruit in NJ is quite difficult) they are low-spray, and follow the NJ Fruit Integrated Pest Management program.

Finally, the CSA also coordinates one-time orders of organic strawberries, blueberries and local honey.
