The Growing Experience

The Growing Experience is a 7-acre urban farm located in north Long Beach, CA in the Carmelitos Housing Development.We provide access to locally grown, healthy foods in an area that has been traditionally under-served. Our fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs are grown without the use of harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we utilize sustainable and drought conscious growing methods to ensure we provide fresh, local, and affordable produce to the community. In addition to providing healthy produce to the community, The Growing Experience is home to a number of projects and programs, and hosts a variety of community events and workshops. Proceeds from our produce sales directly fund our operations and community programs. - Our mission is to cultivate a sustainable and ethical local food system by providing equitable access to natural foods, promoting social justice through community engagement, and operating as stewards of the land.
