The Dominique chicken, a moderate-sized breed, has black and white barring over the entire body and distinguishing rose comb (the comb is flat and flower-like). The Dominique's heavy plumage protects the bird in cold weather and is used commercially as material for pillows and featherbeds. Developed from introduced breeds from early New England settlements, the Dominique was widely distributed across the eastern US by mid-19th century. The Dominique is hardy, does well on the open range as well as in confinement, and is generally a calm bird. As a dual purpose bird, the hens lay light to dark brown
We grow heirloom and open pollinated vegetable plants for seed production. All of our crops are grown without any use of chemical inputs. No pesticides (even organic ones) are used on our gardens. We also raise a few varieties of heirloom strawberry, blackberry, and sweet potato plants for sale at local markets.

We raise pastured poultry (heritage breed chickens and turkeys), meat goats (Boer/Xs), meat sheep (Katahdin/Dorper/Barbados), feeder calves and feeder pigs. We are all natural with no steroids, hormones or medications and only use natural fertilizers and insect control methods.

Angelica Farms birds are truly special. They are treated like family until ready for your table or freezer. Raised on pasture (closed up at night for their safety), we allow them to be truly free range over lots of good, green pasture when they get old enough to avoid the hawks. The bright yellow pasture-fed eggs absolutely wonderful. Our heritage turkeys are either Rio Grande Wild Turkeys or Bourbon Red Turkeys.
