The Narragansett turkey is named for Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. It descends from a cross between native Eastern Wild turkeys and domestic turkeys brought by English and European colonists. Improved and standardized for production qualities, the Narragansett was the foundation of the turkey industry in New England. The Narragansett variety is similar in color to the Bronze breed, though it is lighter in color and in build. The Narragansett is known for its calm disposition and maternal qualities, as well as early maturation, good laying, and excellent meat quality.
We are a small family poultry farm. We have guineas, 5 breeds of chickens, and 2 breeds of turkeys. We hatch our own eggs and raise all our own birds. We sell farm fresh brown eggs all year long. Our chickens consist of 3 heritage breeds: Delawares, Buckeyes, and Barred Rocks; also Buff Orpingtons (an English breed) and Araucanas (the "Easter egg chickens"). We also raise and sell our Narragansett turkeys (a heritage breed) for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Bedlam Acres Farm is a diversified farm focusing on the humane and natural production of rare heritage breeds of livestock. Our centerpiece operation is our herd of Ossabaw hogs, which we raise outdoors so that they have constant access to grass, roots and nuts! Ossabaw hogs are the best tasting pigs available but are extremely rare (they are listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste and on the ALBC's Critically Endangered list).

Instead I implement high standards of care to keep my flocks healthy, and allow them to grow at the rate nature intended. I specialize in heritage and rare breeds; you will never find a commercial hybrid in my flock! They are fed a high quality blend of grains, and provided with unlimited access outdoors to forage.
