This tomato was developed by Charlie Byles of Logan, West Virgina in the 1930s. Charlie owned a radiator repair shop and had no plant breeding experience - this tomato was the only breeding work he ever did. After years of experimenting and selling off his seedlings, he was able to pay off the mortgage on his house. This tomato's story has helped keep the strain alive. This large beefsteak fruit is very meaty with few seeds. It has a spicy flavor and low acidity. The taste starts off mild and then builds, with a long finish on the palate. We are a small farm operation raising goats, poultry, rabbits and produce. We are specializing in "heritage breeds" and "heirloom varieties" and most of our production is utilizing "pasture raised" or "free-range" management. Our goat herd is two fold, we raise meat goats (Boer crosses with Nubian or Alpine) and Pygmy goats (we have some small Dwarf Nigerian animals) which are sold as companion animals.

Zoey Farms is a family-run farm in Shingle Springs, California. This year marks our 8th year as a working CSA, however, this year, we have decided to give the farm a break. Your Hometown Harvests is accepting members for 2013, our fourth CSA season. We grow vegetables and fruit in Monmouth, Oregon with a focus on heirloom and locally adapted varieties. We use organic methods and never use synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. On large portions of our farm we use deep mulch methods that add to soil fertility, prevent erosion and eliminate the need for irrigation. We are committed to continually improving the health of the earth we farm.

Yellow Wolf Farm is a small, diversified farm located in Harmony, in the foothills/piedmont region of NC. We sell naturally raised meats, eggs, goat milk soaps and lotions and organic produce. We do not use antibiotics, medicated feeds or hormones on our animals that produce our meat, eggs and milk. We farm sustainably using cover crops, pasture rotation and compost to preserve our native grasses, water and soil.
